The ignominious record of all-loss in Ranji Trophy against Bengal continued for Orissa as they were mauled by an innings and 108 runs in the ninth East Zone match between the two sides at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today. The three-day match ended within two days.
This was the ninth successive defeat and seventh by innings margin for Odisha against Bengal. After dismissing Orissa for a paltry 67, Bengal took sizeable first-innings lead by declaring at 266 for nine. In the second innings, Orissa were bundled out for 91.
The only silver lining for Orissa was the bowling of Santanu Satpathy and captain N N Swamy who bagged four wickets each. Ashokananda Jena made his first-class debut for Orissa in this match.
